Microwave ovens can be tricky to clean – spattered food dries out quickly and is hard to remove and odours linger inside the machine.
Don’t worry though – here are a couple of tips to help
Dried food spatters – if normal cleaning wont get them off, put a large bowl of water into the microwave and cook on high for 3 to 5 minutes. The steam created will loosen the spatters and they should just wipe off
Odours – The are two options here; The first and my favorite, is to mix 200ml of water with 100ml of lemon juice in a jug and cook on high for 3 to 5 minutes. Leave inside for a further 10 minutes. Alternatively, add a large tablespoon of baking soda to 200ml of water and stir. Soak a cloth in the solution and wipe out the whole interior of the microwave.
Happy cleaning!
